Spiritual Growth

Adult Formation

Deepen your connection to your faith and community

Sunday Forum

Every Sunday at 9:15 we gather in Thatcher Hall for spiritual formation.

Our topics vary from current events to Bible Study to Spirituality to Ministry Updates.

Baptisms are conducted throughout the year and confirmations occur when our bishops visits.

Lectionary Bible Study

Every week we gather in-person and online to read and wonder about the assigned Scripture texts for the following Sunday. We find this dedication to study enhances our worship experience on Sunday, and we find spiritual support from one another as the conversation inevitably meanders toward life’s Big Questions.

If you can’t make it in-person on Tuesdays in the library join us on Google Meets at 8am.

Education for Ministry

This is a four-year program that runs from September – May. Each year focuses on a different topic: Old Testament, New Testament, Theology, and Church History.

Designed by Sewanee Seminary, this program enables participants to “go deep” in their studies and also to share their spiritual journeys.

Other Small Groups

Small Groups provide an opportunity for friendship, vulnerability, and care. Some are low commitment, while others invite ongoing engagement. Our small groups include:

Summer small groups
Martha’s Knitting Group
Men of Grace
Daughters of the King
Pub Theology
Joyful Fellowship for LGBT+allies
Occasional book studies and seasonal Bible studies

Youth Formation

For middle and high schoolers

Grace First Youth Group

This is our collaborative youth group program with First United Methodist Church.

Middle School and High school youth meet Sunday evenings for fellowship, discipleship groups, and a meal.

Volunteers from Grace are involved, and the program takes place at First United Methodist.

Serving in Worship

Youth are encouraged to serve as acolytes, ushers, lectors, and intercessors on Sundays.

Camp Henry

This Diocesan camp is located only 20 minutes away at Lake Logan Camp and Conference Center. The week-long camps include backpacking trips or traditional summer camps.

Summer Mission Trips

We offer these in partnership with First United Methodist Church.

Each summer, we have service-oriented trips as well as Wilderness Trail, a five-day backpacking adventure.

Recent trips have included Chicago, Gatlinburg, and Ecuador.

Children's Formation

For kids ages 0-10

Sundays at 9:15

During the Sunday forum, children are welcome to play in our nursery with Bible story-themed toys and books.

During the 10:30 service, we offer a Children’s Sermon based on the appointed Scripture for that Sunday.

Clean and Green

In partnership with First United Methodist Church, children from Kindergarten to 5th grade meet for play and to care for creation. They also eat dinner together. This provides parents with the possibility of a wonderful night out.

Camp Henry

Camp Henry is our diocesan summer camp and has various camps for kids in the summer. Children as young as rising second-graders may attend.

They also have a family camp, which provides a summer camp experience for the whole family!

Nursery Care

Our nursery is staffed every Sunday from 9:15 until 11:45.

Our nursery supervisor brings the children in for the children’s sermon and ensures their safety. Weather permitting they sometimes play on the church playground, too.

Growing in the Episcopalian Faith

Learning to Pray

Video Service on the Many Forms of Prayer

In Luke 11, the disciples say to Jesus, “Teach Us to Pray”. In this video series on prayer, we hope to share with you many forms of prayer that you might try out and perhaps adopt into your own intentional prayer practice. Maybe you’ve always wanted to know more about the Ignatian Examen but didn’t know where to start. Or maybe you have been praying the Daily Office for decades and are looking for something new! We hope that through this series you might discover a new spiritual practice or reignite an already familiar practice that brings you closer to God!
