Welcome to Grace Church in the Mountains! For over one-hundred sixty years, members of this parish church have worshiped God in services centered around the Holy Eucharist. As young and old gather at the table together, we listen to the sacred Word found in scripture and share consecrated bread and wine in remembrance of Jesus life, death and resurrection. Believing in our Lords continuing presence in the world, we have chosen to live out our faith as the Body of Christ by serving others. Our parish has a strong outreach program, with a wide variety of lay ministries open to all.
As Episcopalians, we use the 1979 edition of the Book of Common Prayer, which traces its historical roots to the Reformation of the sixteenth century. As such, we seek a middle way between Roman Catholicism and Protestantism, and people from both of these traditions may find that they feel very comfortable in our congregation. However, no matter where you come from (churched or un-churched), you are most welcome here!
Please spend time on our web-site and look at the many facets of our parish life. One thing that you will notice right away is that the faces of our church family are diverse. Behind each of them is a story of how we finally settled here in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina and became a vital part of this particular community of faith. We look forward to the opportunity to tell you our stories and are eager to listen to yours. Perhaps someday you, too, will be part of this remarkable legacy!
If you are new to the Waynesville area or just new to Grace Church, we would be delighted to meet with you and tell you more about our parish. If you are just visiting the area, please make Grace your home away from home and let us know if there is anything we can do to make your stay an experience that leads you one step closer to the heart of God.
