SEVEN-FOLD CELTIC PRAYER

Facing East --
Praise God for daylight. Praise God for sunlight. Praise God for Christ's light. Praise God for our rising to life today. Praise God who keeps us in life. Bless all that comes to us from the east; bless all that comes in from the sea. May they find peace in this holy place. Amen.

Facing South --
Blessed be God of noonday; blessed be God of this day; blessed be God of each day. Blessed be God for the powers He gives us today. Bless all who come to us from the south; bless all who come from battle seeking peace; bless all who flee from terror seeking hope; bless all who flee from darkness seeking light. May they find refreshment in this holy place. Amen. 

Facing West --
Blessed be God of the evening; blessed be God in the gloaming. Blessed be God in the darkness; blessed be God in the night; blessed be God in the ebb tide; blessed be God in our weakness; blessed be God in our doubt. Protect us from evil; protect us from the demons; protect us from all wickedness. May we find shelter in this holy place. Amen.

Facing North --
Blessed be God in the unknown; blessed be God in our doubts. Blessed be God giving light in the darkness. Protect all who are assailed in their faith; protect all who are mocked and scorned; protect all who are persecuted by others. Make this place a hiding place for them. Amen. 

Extend a hand or bow to the earth --
Blessed be the Creator of the earth. Blessed be the Lord of the Harvest. Blessed be the Christ who descended. Blessed be the Word made flesh. Bless to us this land that it may be fruitful. Bless to us the ground that it may yield a harvest. Bless to us the earth that is may be the place of our resurrection. Amen.

Lift your hands toward heaven --
Blessed be the God who lifts us up; blessed be the God of heaven. Blessed be the risen and ascended Lord; blessed be Christ in glory. Bless us, Lord, with vision; bless us, Lord, with faith; bless us, Lord, with hope. May this be a sacred place; may this be where heaven and earth meet. Amen.

Place your hand on your heart --
God is within. God in my head and in my thinking. God in my eyes and in my seeing. God in my mouth and in my speaking. God in my heart and in my loving. God in my hands and in each action. God in my feet and on each journey. God within me and around hands and in each action. God in my feet and on each journey. God within me and around me. God in the heart of friend and stranger. God in the other who comes to me. Amen.

Facing the Cross --
Blessed are you, Lord God, creator and preserver of all, Maker of all, may we work for you; lover of all, may we love with you; giver of all, may we give like you; Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.
