 Pet Wall was dedicated by the Rector on
The Day of Pentecost -- June 4th
Fifty to sixty parishioners gathered to dedicate the new Pet Wall on the Day of Pentecost, June 4, 2006. Lively music opened the brief service as the new wall was presented by Senior Warden, Blake Rogers. Stephen Staiger, who envisoned the wall, designed it and helped to construct it proudly stood by.
"All God's Critters Sing in the Choir" and "The Rainbow Bridge" were two moving pieces of music that punctuated the beginning and end of the brief service of dedication.
Since the dedication, hundreds of people have gone to the wall to see it. Memorial plaques of beloved pets are clearly visible on the wall. One tourist from Rome, Georgia stood at the wall and wept as she read "The Rainbow Bridge." It's clearly a place that has special meaning for those who wish to memorialize beloved pets who have died.
The Pet Wall is the final piece that completes what has become to be called "BUILDING 2000" which included the extention and renovation of the Parish Hall, Rectory, Sanctuary and Narthex. The building actually began in 1988 with the construction of the Memorial Garden and now is completed in 2006.
